How to reach Baisaran Valley in Kashmir?

Baisaran is located in the Anantanag district in south Kashmir. If you have a tour plan, you will reach Srinagar by bus, train, or air from other states of India. You can reach Anantanag by train from Srinagar for Rs.30 only. From Anantanag, you will find a shared taxi or can reserve a taxi to visit Pahalgam; the shared taxi fare will be Rs.100 per person. You can also reach Udampur in Jammu and Kashmir. The distance from Jammu City to Udhampur is about 70 km.  Then you will go from Udampur to Pahalgam. From Srinagar, you can reserve a taxi to reach Pahalgam at Rs.2000.

The road from Pahalgam to Baisaran is not good; it is an impassable road. The hollow is situated around 6.5 km away from Pahalgam. It is more difficult to reach the vale on foot in winter, and the only other way known is horseback riding, also known as pony riding, to reach the place. So, the journey takes 2-3 hours to reach the spot from Pahalgam. The valley is not accessible by road unless you are a trained trekker. But to enjoy the beauty of nature, you have to reach the spot, which is a little difficult; you have to take a pony ride to visit Baisaran Kashmir. When the snow starts to melt, the roads become slippery. You may reach the spot via a short trek or a pony ride from Pahalgam. The trek typically takes time, near about 1 hour. The tourist may have a bit of a challenge to reach the spot by pony riding. If you are with a child or an old-age person, you should avoid visiting the place because the ponies don’t take regular paths, and they always take steep shortcuts through hills and rivers with heavy rocks that can make the ride quite bumpy and difficult to survive with kids or an old-age person. The charge for a pony ride up and down (round trip) will be Rs.1000 per person, and you may bargain, but the horse owner may demand much more.
