This temple represents a powerful combination of deep spirituality and unique architecture, along with religious and historical importance. The temple Matabari was constructed by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in the year 1501.

the parts of Goddess Sati’s body fell during Lord Shiva’s dance of destruction.

in Udaypur. If you reside outside the state of Tripura and you want to travel
by train to explore Matabari, you have to reach Agartala first. The city is the
biggest and most developed town in Tripura; several stay options, like hotels,
lodges, and homestays, are available there. You can visit the Tripureshwari Mandir the next day.
By Flight:
If you want to visit Tripura by flight, then you will come to Agartala first.
The name of the airport is Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, located in Agartala.
The airport is about 30 km away from main City and 55 km away from Matabari
Temple. You can hire a taxi to reach Tripureshwari
Mandir.
Agartala to Udaipur by Train
Matabari is a well-known destination in Tripura. The
nearest railway station is Udaipur Railway Station, which is 4 km away. Udaipur
is the popular destination for the famous temple Matabari. Agartala to Udaipur distance is around 43 km. You will find a demo train
(75688) from Agartala to Udaipur that takes around 45 minutes. On the way, you
have to cross the stations, like Shekorkut, Bishalgarh, and Bishramganj, and
then the destination, Udaipur. The train (75688) departs Agartala Station at 1:30
pm daily and runs to Sabroom Station. On the way you will find Udaipur station and
get down at the station if your destination is Tripureshwari Mandir. The train fare will be Rs.10 to reach
Udaipur.
Some trains are available on the Agartala to Sabroom
route and the Sabroom to Agartala route; on the way, Udaipur station is
located.

From Udaipur you will find local auto rickshaws to
reach the temple, and the shared auto fare will be Rs.20 per person, and for a
reservation it will be Rs.80 to Rs.100.

Several buses are available to reach Udaipur from the
capital city. You will find share taxi or can take a taxi (reserve) to reach
the temple.
Best time to
visit Matabari
You can visit Matabari any time of the year. But the
best time to visit Matabari will be September to April. At that time the
weather will be pleasant, and the road in the nearby area will be in good
condition. You must avoid visiting Tripura in the rainy season.

There are some very popular tourist places in
Agartala, in the state of Tripura. The most visited places are Matabari, Jagannath
Temple, Neer Mahal, Rudra Sagar Lake, Ujjayanta Palace, Heritage Park, Sephijala
Zoo, Unnagoori, etc.
Neermahal is a famous tourist destination in west
Tripura. Here you can also experience boating in the Rudra Sagar Lake. Boating experience
to reach Neermahal is such an activity that you can hardly do in any city. According
to tourists, the experience of boating in Rudrasagar Lake and exploring Neer
Mahal is very amazing and memorable. You will find another passenger boat to go
to Neermahal, and the boat fare will be Rs.30 to Rs.40 only. You can go with a
motorboat for 1 to 15 persons for Rs.500. At the same time you can visit
Ujjayanta Palace. There is a miniature heritage garden, the famous wildlife
sanctuary, Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary. Jagannath Bari is the most famous
