How to Visit Mechuka
If you want to visit Mechuka Arunachal, you will first
come to Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh, by flight, train, or
bus. You can also try to reach Dibrugarh by bus, train, or flight. It will be
easy to explore Mechukha. The other popular destination is Aalo, which is on
the way from Dibrugarh to Mechukha. The places Dibrugarh or Aalo are well road-connected
with other major places in India. Whereas, Mechukha does not have good road
connectivity. Some taxis and sumos run daily on the route Aalo to Mechukha or
Mechukha to Aalo. You can also book a car at Rs.5000 to Rs.6000 per day for a tour.

By Train:
Murkongselek Railway Station (MZS) is the nearest railway station to the valley.
The station is located in Jonai, Assam, only 135 to 150 km away from the
tourist destinations. You can visit the valley via Aalo from Murkongselek by
road.
If you want to visit the tourist place from Kolkata, a
popular train, Kamrup Express (15959), starts its journey from Howrah Station
at 6:35 pm and arrives in Dibrugarh at 5:55 am (2nd day). The
Express runs every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from
Howrah station to Dibrugarh and takes 33 h 35 min to cover the distance of 1529
km.
Aalo is a perfect place where you can stay. Several
hotels and homestays are available in Aalo. After a night stay in Aalo, you can
reach the tourist place by taxi after 7 to 8 hour journey.
By Flight:
If you want to travel by air, you first visit Guwahati or Dibrugarh or Itanagar.
But Dibrugarh is much closer than Guwahati and Itanagar. From Dibrugarh, you
will find several buses and taxis to reach Aalo. There are several homestays
and hotels are available in Aalo. From Aalo, you will find taxi to reach Mechukha,
around a 7 to 8 hour trip. You can also find some hotels and homestays are in
Mechuka Valley. Try to book a local homestay; it will be better for
experiencing local food and local tribe culture, and they are also very
helpful.
Dibrugarh to
Mechuka
Dibrugarh to Mechuka distance is about 370 km. On the
way, you will find the place Aalo, which is 185 km to Mechukha. There are
several buses, and taxis are available to reach Aalo, but from Aalo, you can
find taxis and sumos to visit the tourist place, and the tour time will be
around 7 hours.
Best time to visit Mechuka
Winter season is the best time to visit Menchukha. The
months October to March are the peak season for the tourist destination. The
snow-caped mountains and snowfall in winter make the place attractive for
tourists. Try to avoid monsoon season, hilly places, muddy roads, and bad road
conditions. In the rainy season, the road condition will be not good, and your

Inner Line Permit (ILP) is also needed for an Indian
tourist before visiting Arunachal Pradesh, and a Protected Area Permit (PAP) is
necessary for foreigners. ILP cost will be Rs.300 per person (for 1day to 3
days) and Rs.500 per person (for 3 days to 14 days). Children up to 14 years old
don’t need an ILP. You can make an ILP online from the Arunachal official website
or from the Arunachal entry gate (offline).
